Insomnical Thoughts
I,
Supposedly, I am very tired physically but I can’t coax myself to sleep and journey to slumber land would have to wait another day.
Tonight will be the third night that I couldn’t sleep since the beginning of the year. ( it could have been more, I just lost count of the nights that I was insomniac. )
On those nights where I couldn’t sleep, I stared wide awake at the ceiling and occasionally I sink my face deep into the soft pillow on which my head rest just to see if I still need to breathe. I can’t help but to have thoughts racing through my mind, and thoughts that came so random.
Very soon, I will be sucked into the inevitable rat race where its strict ‘money earning’ regime might leave me empty with a life that earns money, and later with money trying to earn a life. Anxiety clouds my mind, my thoughts but I know, I shouldn’t fear tomorrow because He holds my future. How would my future look like? What car will I drive? Will I earn enough? Will I be happy with my new job? Will I look as glamorous as the profession seems to portray? Will a day come, when I will put a price on my integrity? Or price my security with the salary that I draw in monthly? What inspires me daily?
Inspire….. What is my aspiration ??... what is my inspiration ???
What inspires me?
I have an old friend. Not old in age, but old as in I knew this person sometime back. This person has a very pleasant personality that naturally attracts friends and coupled with a jovial attitude and a good measure of maturity, people always feel comfortable around this person. Lets name this person, X.
I’ve lost count the many times that X actually inspire me to do things. To start of, was my interview. I went for my first interview one week after I came back from Australia. I didn’t know the application got through so fast and I was immediately short listed because of my portfolio. So, hastily and unprepared, I went for my first interview. My own review was, I sucked at my first interview. I screwed up big time and I looked like a fool. I came back home quite disheartened and I told X about it.
“that’s what you think, maybe your interviewer didn’t think that way”
Just a sentence as simple as this lifted me up and gave me some kind of hope. I know its not the end. I admire the optimism demonstrated by X. A person fairly young in age but was able to see things at a whole ‘nother’ level. Maybe X didn’t even realize what that sentence meant to me but nevertheless, it inspired me. The following week, the interviewer called me up to arrange for a second interview in which we will discuss on the remuneration issues. ( what does that tell you ? hahah ). Long story short, I did not accept my first interview and went for another interview at a bigger, more established firm. I had butterflies in my stomach. I looked at my own portfolio, and I doubted myself abit. On the journey to my interview, I was listening to Ed Young Jr’s sermon from the Hillsongs Conf in July 07. There was a catch phase that he used.
“You’ve got it, Now use it”
You’ve got it, now use it. I was thinking to myself, of course I would use it … IF… I had it. This little cloud of doubt in me kept me thinking about what I don’t have and how I screwed up my first interview. Then, I thought of what X said…..
“ That’s what you think, maybe your interviewer didn’t think that way”
Mustered every ounce of confidence I have, I stepped into the Firm and looked for the person I was supposed to meet for my interview. Sat,Talked, Showed my portfolio on my laptop and at the end of my portfolio presentation, I showed them two videos that I did for my design studio. As I played the video, I noticed that my interviewer’s eyes was stucked on my laptop screen. Holding with one hand, his glasses, to make sure that his glasses stay on where it should be. At the end of my two videos, he asked me this question,
“ Do you still have some more videos ?”
His eyes wide opened gleaming with delight. GOSH , I told myself. I never expected him to like my video. After seeing all my works, he told me this,
“After seeing your work, I see that you definitely have potential”
Indeed, God was good to have blessed me with such a smooth interview and needless to say, eventually I accepted the offer to work at their firm. ( I applied , they offer, I accept )
Today, I sit here infront of my laptop, I realized that if X hasn’t told me that sentence, I guess I would still be looking for a job now. It was that sentence that inspired me and gave me confidence for the interview. Today, I only have the time to talk about one of the few things that X has ‘unconsciously’ inspired me to do.
What is my inspiration ? what is your inspiration ?
Another friend of mine once said, You are your own Inspiration. That explains the title of my previous blog. J
Chase and the Chased. Hunt and the Hunted. Pursue and the Pursued. The inevitable game in life that is beautiful and at the same time ugly. I guess that is for another time.
Some people ask me, why am I so opened to let everyone read my thoughts and be vulnerable ?
That, you have to know me before I can tell you the answer. J
Cheers !.

hasty Comeback.
Articulated townships like Bukit Tinggi could have done a better job in organizing the roads and subjecting them to some sort of order. The roads goes from 1a to 1b to 1c to 1d to 1e and all the sudden, 4A??? Where the heck is 2 and 3 ??. Why am I not surprised to find that 2 and 3 is at the other end ?? ( btw, I’m referring to the roads that ends with Batu Nilams, the place where there’s a lot a lot of food and shops ) .
Honestly, it is only easy to navigate around that place with Landmarks as reference. If you follow road signs, you will definitely VOMIT blood like me today!. BODO la.
The other thing that piss me off is ONE WAY STREETS in housing areas. One Way Streets at places with High Traffic Volume is justifiable, although not totally agreeable but in housing areas? WHAT THE HECK FOR ? Maybe the JALAN SEHALA road signs are such a beautiful blueish street ornament that the council decide to decorate the whole street with those signs. Supposedly traffic disperse at housing areas because everybody lives at different parts of the housing area. NO Thanks to the ‘highly ornamental’ ONE WAY STREET sign, all traffic are streamed into one circulation path and create a high traffic concentration at specific parts/road of the housing area causing difficulty to all road users, congestion and frustrate road users like me who less frequent the place!.. What are they trying to do ? imitate IKEA? ( ok, for those of you who didn’t know, IKEA subscribe to the idea of “Forced Circulation”. Meaning to say, you have no choice under normal circumstances but to go through every single part of the store in a pre-planned path so that you will see the things you intent to buy and also ‘forced’ to see the things that you don’t intent to buy but end up buying it cause you see it “all- so- pretty”. Now that you wonder why IKEA is earning so much money) There’s a few more strategies that IKEA has but that is for another time and another place. Today its all about my frustration.
When will people be aware that they owe the Duty of Care to the people surrounding them ? Especially when we are living in a rapidly growing society . What I encountered today was a series of incident are highly regarded by me as an act of beastly savage!
I exit the Bukit Tinggi- Klang Jaya road into the main road leading to Klang New Bridge ( ok ..OLD new bridge) . I was cruising at the neck-breaking speed of 80km/h when a passenger of the lorry infront of me conveniently threw a bunch of peeled orange skin out of his window onto the road. Why that person couldn’t have thought about the safety of the road users behind? What happen if I didn’t see that it was Orange skin and thought that it was some ‘stray’ metal/wood pieces from the lorry? I would probably reacted in defense and hit the car next to me ( ok, alil exaggeration, but you get the idea ? )
Aiyo…. Why are people so irresponsible to the environment anyway ? I’m not an extreme environmentalist but I would do my part by not littering the road with rubbish! I for sure know that a ‘road rubbish’ on NKVE can potentially tear out the car’s front bumper!
Haih ………………….. seee I complain so much that I am complacent. Haha . Ok la.. nuff of complaining.. I was actually thinking of blogging a very inspirational thought until my ‘interesting’ encounter with the other side of the beautiful Klang town.
